Braided Tapered Snapdragons
These 9 inch Crackers have a standing loop on one end for easy cracker installation,
a 3 inch section that is thicker and doubled and stiffer, a 3.5" section of single layer braiding, and a 2.5" feather.
The feather is tied off with the smallest chain of half hitches against the stem with single yarns to prevent further feather feathering.
Made from 500lb DUPONT SPECTRA braided material with a almost teflon like slick coating, these crackers will tangle less, catch overhand knots less often and perform longer than the Kevlar spun yarn crackers I hand spin.
The size of these is roughly the same as a 16 strand heavy (96 size thread) at it's thickest point. They work well on a 4ft snake or on a 16 ft rodeo bull whip.
I recommend if you have a light or shorter whip, put them on try them out and if they are not quite cracking for you, trim the feather 1/4" and try again, you can balance the cracker to the whip by reducing the drag factor (the feather) though you will raise the pitch of the crack.
I'm currently working on obtaining a heavier material for bigger, heavier whips that need a beefier cracker to reduce fall loading.
It's in progress, I'll make this same item have a heavy duty version when it is available.
