Here we have the rule book for 'Space Marines' by A. Mark Ratner.A second printing copy, 1977. Illustrations by David Sutherland and William McLean.
Space Marines - a military game designed to simulate land combat in the 22nd century!
Required Equipment:
A random number generator - for numbers 1 through 20 - a 20 sided dice or numbered chips in a container are also suggested.
Dice - several standard six sided dice
Tape measures - At least one tape measure, used for obtaining ranges and for moving player pieces. Rulers can also be used too.
Miniature figures - Either realistic looking figures or some kind of other playing piece
The guide includes a short backstory, a detailed list of the human protagonists and their alien enemies, details on how players can move, the various options for attack, details on the variety of weapons available, military organizations, weapons damage tables, and lots more. Lots of vintage illustrations.
"FanTac" was a company that A. Mark Ratner started to publish the games he developed. He sold the company to Fantasy Games Unlimied, 'Space Marines' was part of the inspiration for the development of the 'Space Opera Volume 1' game from FGU.
This guide is 72 pages, saddle stitched, with the binding intact, staples have show some rust on the outside, pages 42 - 46 have a diagonal crease mark at the lower right corner - a small diagonal crease at that lower corner. No writing on the text pages - no former ownership marks. Small stain mark on the back cover at the right side near the spine -- see the attached photos for more details on the condition and a photo of this area of the back cover.
